Student Liaison Officers are provided on site at the flight and ground & simulator training centres to support and assist Students at anytime.

An onsite manager is also available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at the furnished accommodation facility.

Living in Melbourne

General

Melbourne has a thriving restaurant and café culture, offering classical and innovative dining options.

At night the streets light up at night with theatres, bars, restaurants and shopping centres that line the city streets and flank the Yarra River in Southbank.

Melbourne is host to many major cultural events each year, bringing participants from around the world in international sports competitions and arts festivals.

Melbourne has a large number of parks with bike tracks and walking trails. The lush Royal Botanic Gardens attract tourists and joggers while other parks such as the Treasury Gardens, Fitzroy and Footscray Gardens are also popular spots.

Melbourne has an extensive public transport system including trams, trains, buses and taxi services offering secure, convenient and comfortable travel.

Climate
Melbourne has four distinct seasons. Summer is dry with warm to hot daytime temperatures averaging 28 degrees C (82 degrees F). Winter is cold, crisp and wet with daytime temperatures averaging 14 degrees C (57 degrees F).

Communications
At post offices you can post letters, make international phone calls and send faxes.

A private telephone can be connected quickly to most locations and local calls are not metered.

Mobile (cell) phones are easily obtained with most carriers offering extensive networks.

Internet access is convenient and easily available.

Overseas and local language newspapers, magazines and books are also readily available.

Food
Markets and supermarkets sell a variety of fresh meat, fruit and vegetables as well as rice, breads, spices and other ingredients. Halal and kosher foods are available.

Melbourne’s restaurants and cafes offer a wide variety of foods from around the world, including Arabic, Chinese, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Ethiopian, Brazilian, Malaysian, Greek, Indian, Thai, Vietnamese, Lebanese, French and Indonesian.
